UK ACTIVITIES

Day 1-3 (Wed, 13rd -Fri, 15th Aug 2025): Co-development and prototype development and initial testing

Day 4 (Mon, 18th Aug 2025):

Research visit at Imperial College, White City Campus, London.

10:00 – 10:15Arrival and Welcome at White City
10:15 – 11:00Laboratory Tour
11:00 – 12:00Demonstrations/Short talks
12:00 – 12:30Meeting with Visitors/VIVO
12:30 – 13:30Lunch and Informal Discussions

We express our gratitude for the warm welcome from Dr. Bruno Grandi Sgambato, postdoc under Prof. Dario Farina, who is working on neurorehabilitation engineering. It is one of the sub-research groups in the Neuromechanics and Rehabilitation Technology research group at the Imperial College.

Dr. Bruno himself focuses on Ultrasound method based on high density EMG sensor to anticipate muscle movement for augmented reality or to control an artificial hand.

Research visit at London South Bank University, London

14:30 – 17:30 (Optional)Visit at Mechanical Intelligence Lab at London South Bank University, led by Dr. Hamed Rajabi

The research works here are mainly on insect-inspired structure, for example, wing structure for drone, mandible of dungbeetle for surgical cutting tool, and other principles behind the natural structures that could be useful in the future.

Day 5 (Tue, 19th Aug 2025): Research visit at University of Bath, Dr Uriel Martinez Hernandez’s lab

Appreciation for Dr. Douglas Tilley, postdoc from Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering, for professional research facility tour and meeting arrangement. We had visited:

  • Gait lab
  • Team Bath
  • Aerospace lab for designing, manufacturing and mechanical testing
  • Center for Orthopedic biomechanics

Day 6 (Wed, 20th Aug 2025): VISTEC team at Bristol Robotics Laboratory

The team had learned and discussed on several topics, for example, soft exosuit and morphological computation.

Day 7 (Thu, 21st Aug 2025): HEART Research talk event at Bristol Robotics Laboratory

Day 8 (Fri, 22nd Aug 2025): Conclusion

The meeting for future collaboration was hold in Queen’s building, University of Bristol. The possibility includes experimental research, student exchange, and funding.
